Update to our CQC Rating

We were very excited following our CQC inspection in October to have them confirm that we have made significant improvements over the past 6 months.

We discussed with them how we had not completed everything in our improvement plan because the changes required need a while to take effect and bed in. However, the work we have done around safety and leadership – particularly in relation to new management and quality assurance, fire safety, medication, care planning and infection control all meant that CQC was able to move us upwards into Requires Improvement and take the service out of special measures.

We look forward to the next phase of our improvement agenda which we are confident will hugely enhance the experience of people who live and work with us, and see us achieve a Good rating at our next inspection.


Our response to the CQC Report

As you can imagine, everyone at Mountside was hugely disappointed and concerned by the recent CQC inspection rating.

However, with the new provider Downlands Care Ltd and the new management team in place, I am confident that we are already well on the way to returning to offering the high-quality services that we expect at this service.

Staff have been working closely with residents and relatives to find out what they want from us in order that we can effectively meet their needs through this period of change.

Now that I am in the post as of July 2021 I can support the team to take forward this improvement work at a much faster pace. I have been meeting with the local NHS and local authority quality teams so that I can make sure Mountside is in receipt of all the support that is on offer and so that the service is well placed within community health and social care networks.

I have over 25 years of experience in the health and social care field, large parts of it spent working with care homes to improve their services and working with CQC as a regulatory inspector. I look forward to bringing all that knowledge to Mountside now so that together we can again become a highly valued care service.
