The festivities kicked off with an array of games and entertainment, there was something for everyone to enjoy. No summer fair is complete without delicious food, and Mountside did not disappoint. Guests savoured BBQ favourites, including juicy burgers and hot dogs, alongside an assortment of tasty treats that satisfied every palate.
A special highlight of the day was the children’s entertainment provided by the beloved Uncle Bumble. His engaging performances and playful antics had the young ones in fits of giggles, while adults couldn’t help but smile at the sheer delight on their children’s faces.
“This year’s Summer Fair was truly unforgettable,” said activity coordinator Kimberley. “The sun was shining, the laughter was contagious, and memories were made that will last a lifetime. It’s heartwarming to see our community come together and share such a special day.”

Responding to the residents' desire to grow their own vegetables, the care home's dedicated maintenance man, Sean, sprang into action, constructing raised planters to kickstart their gardening journey.
A New Gardening Initiative: The idea to grow their own vegetables came from the residents themselves, who were eager to engage in a hands-on, rewarding activity. Sean's quick and skilful creation of the raised planters provided the perfect solution, making gardening accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
"We’re so enthusiastic about the idea of growing their own veggies," said Kimberley, Activities Coordinator at Mountside Care Home Care Home. "Sean did an incredible job with the planters, and it's wonderful to see the residents so engaged and excited."
The gardening club at Mountside Care Home has been hard at work, planting and nurturing a variety of vegetables. Their efforts are already bearing fruit—literally. Yesterday, Jimmy, one of the club's most passionate members, proudly presented the first homegrown courgettes to the care home's talented chef.
"Seeing the courgettes grow and being able to share them with our chef was such a proud moment," Jimmy said with a beaming smile. "It's amazing to see what we've accomplished together."
The homegrown courgettes and other vegetables will be used by the care home's chef to prepare delicious, fresh meals for the residents. This garden-to-table approach enhances the dining experience and highlights the benefits of growing their own food.
