Gabriel Court Care Home brings joy indoors with carpet bowls as residents experience a delightful change of pace when their lounge was transformed into an indoor bowling green for a spirited game of carpet bowls. This engaging activity brought together residents for an afternoon of fun, laughter, and friendly competition.

The event, organised by the care home staff, aimed to provide a stimulating and accessible recreational option that everyone could enjoy, regardless of their mobility levels. Carpet bowls, similar to lawn bowls but adapted for indoor play, proved to be an instant hit among the residents.

The highlight of the day was when Christine, one of the residents, took her turn. Her game was met with enthusiastic cheers and encouragement from her friends and fellow residents, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and support. “It’s wonderful to see everyone so lively and cheering each other on. It truly lifts our spirits,” Gemma, Activities Coordinator at the care home remarked.

“Activities like carpet bowls not only help keep our residents physically active but also boost their social interaction and mental well-being,” continues Gemma “Seeing them engage and encourage one another is just lovely.”

Gabriel Court Care Home continues to prioritise innovative and inclusive activities that enrich the lives of its residents, and this event was a perfect example of how a simple game can turn into a source of immense joy and community bonding.
