Celebrating National Pet Day with furry friends Mountside Care Home embraced the spirit of the day with open arms, hosting a delightful celebration that brought together residents, staff, and some very special furry guests.

The day was marked by joyous activities and shared stories that highlighted the love and companionship pets bring into our lives.

This year’s celebration saw the arrival of Tanner, Molly, and Arthur—three charming pets who quickly became the stars of the show.

The festivities included a pet-themed quiz that tested the residents’ knowledge of animals and sparked lively discussions. The quiz was a hit, bringing laughter and friendly competition to the group. As the questions unfolded, residents reminisced about their own pets from years past.

“One of the most beautiful aspects of today was listening to our residents recount tales of their own pets,” said Kimberley, Activities Coordinator at Mountside. “It’s clear that these stories, full of affection and sometimes mischief, hold a special place in their hearts.”

Residents had the opportunity to pet and play with the dogs, and the animals seemed to enjoy the attention as much as the residents did. The therapeutic benefits of interacting with pets were evident, as faces lit up with every wagging tail and nuzzle.

“Seeing the interactions between our residents and the dogs today reminded us of the powerful bond between humans and animals,” Kimberley noted. “It’s a reminder of the comfort and joy pets can bring to our lives, no matter our age.”

Mountside Care Home’s celebration of National Pet Day was a resounding success, filled with laughter, shared memories, and new friendships. It was a day that underscored the timeless connection between people and their furry friends, leaving residents looking forward to next year’s celebration.
