Ahead of Christmas last year, the local community in Hastings came together to put on a show to treat the residents of Mountside Care Home, consisting of Christmas songs, carols and a few spirited activities to spread the Christmas cheer.

With mince pie making and decorating the home and Christmas cards, residents got into the Christmas spirit with the community and each other.

“It’s been lovely to welcome so many of the local community into our home and to help bring the Christmas spirit to our residents,” says Shelagh Hazleton, the home’s activities coordinator.

Blacklands Academy performed Christmas songs and were followed by the local Rainbows, Brownies, and Guides groups. A highlight of the show is said to be a four-year-old who bravely soloed Twinkle, Twinkle, and a duo of Brownies who performed In the Bleak Midwinter.

“It was great having so many visitors, especially as I can’t get out and about to attend festive events myself, so I’m grateful they were willing to come to us,” says one resident.

Mountside Care Home specialises in residential care, respite and dementia care, and is a branch of ACI Care.
