At Fairways Care Home, we believe that creativity knows no age; and our recent craft session proved just that!

Residents have been turning ordinary wooden letters into vibrant works of art by wrapping them in colourful yarn and adorning them with bright, cheerful flowers. Each piece is not just a decoration, but a personal expression of identity, memory, and mood.

This tactile activity offered so much more than just a chance to get creative. It encouraged fine motor skills, cognitive engagement, and offered a perfect opportunity for socialising and laughter along the way. Residents shared stories about the letters they chose—often their initials or those of loved ones—adding an extra layer of meaning to each finished piece.

Craft sessions like this promote not only creative expression but also a strong sense of personal freedom and achievement. Whether someone preferred soft pastels or bold brights, every finished letter became a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that now brightens our shared spaces.
