Called the parachute game everyone at The Old Rectory Care Home enjoyed the recent armchair exercise class, proving that staying active can indeed be fun as well as social.

This innovative game designed not only to enhance muscle strength, but increase mobility among the residents, injected a hefty dose of fun into the home’s daily routine.

The care home’s spacious activity room was filled with vibrant energy as residents gathered around, each taking a seat and eagerly grasping the edges of a colourful parachute spread out before them.

Led by an enthusiastic instructor, the game began with simple movements, lifting the parachute up and down in unison, creating a mesmerising wave of colours. The residents, guided by the instructions, found themselves immersed in the activity, their laughter echoing through the room as the parachute billowed like a giant, multicoloured cloud.

This seated parachute game, ingeniously adapted for the residents’ varying levels of mobility, proved to be an excellent workout, engaging not only their arms and upper bodies but also enhancing their range of motion and flexibility.
