International Women’s Day was marked with joy and reflection at Fairways Care Home in New Romney, as residents and care teams came together to honour the incredible women within their care community.
The celebrations took on a playful and heartfelt theme, with each person taking a flower selfie alongside images of the beloved Little Miss characters, from Little Miss Trouble to Little Miss Sunshine and Little Miss Whoops. It was a touching tribute to the many personalities, stories, and experiences that make the women at Fairways so special.
The day was not just about celebration, but also about sharing life stories, memories, and aspirations. Residents spoke of cherished moments from their pasts—games played in childhood, hobbies that brought them joy, and the love they had for those no longer with them. One resident even shared a lifelong dream of one day performing on stage in one of London’s grand theatres, proving that dreams never fade, no matter the age.
The care team at Fairways took their own moment of reflection, paying tribute to the women they care for with deep affection and admiration. They shared stories of kind-hearted natures, the immense gratitude they receive daily, and the lasting memories of beloved husbands, treasured pastimes, and special friendships. It was a moment of appreciation, reminding everyone of the rich and inspiring lives these women have lived.
