Mindful Mystery at Fairways Care Home

Where Are We? A Mindful Mystery at Fairways Care Home

At Fairways Care Home, we’re always looking for creative ways to keep minds active, curious, and engaged—and our recent activity, Where Are We?, did just that!

We became detectives for the day, putting our cognitive skills to the test with a fun and interactive brain-teaser designed to spark imagination and memory.

Using specially designed print-out sheets filled with pictures of iconic landmarks, everyday scenes, and mysterious places, participants were invited to guess: Where are we? Each image became a conversation starter, triggering memories, storytelling, and lots of thoughtful discussion as we pieced together clues and explored possibilities.

This wasn’t only about guessing locations—it was about connecting. Activities like Where Are We? encourage cognitive stimulation by prompting residents to recall past experiences, process visual information, and use logical thinking to make connections. It’s a fun, low-pressure way to keep mental pathways sharp and build confidence through participation.

Some residents were reminded of past holidays, others of childhood scenes or local landmarks. The room filled with stories, shared memories, and laughter as residents worked together to solve each visual puzzle. The social aspect added another layer of benefit—bringing people together in a relaxed, inclusive environment.

At Fairways, every activity is designed with purpose. Whether we’re enjoying a gentle game, reminiscing over tea, puzzles like this one is always to support the overall wellbeing of those who live here; in mind, body, and spirit.
