Making Local News with Celebration of Hastings Pirate Day

Mountside Care Home recently brought one of Hastings best-loved traditions into the home with their own swashbuckling celebration of Hastings Pirate Day.

The home was filled with pirates, costumes, themed accessories, smiles and plenty of seaside fun as everyone embraced the spirit of the occasion. We were delighted when the celebration was subsequently featured by Sussex World, sharing a joyful glimpse of life at Mountside with people across Hastings and Sussex.

The coverage celebrates a wonderfully light-hearted day, but it also represents something that matters deeply to us: ensuring we  continue to feel connected to the town and recognised as part of the wider Hastings community.

When a Mountside story appears in the local news, it shows that the people living in care remain neighbours, friends, parents, grandparents and active members of their community.

Local media also helps open care homes to a wider audience. It gives people an opportunity to see the personalities, friendships and everyday experiences found within Mountside.

It is a way of opening our doors and inviting the community to get to know us.

Pirate Day may have involved costumes, laughter and a little imagination, but its message was a meaningful one: Mountside Care Home and the people who live here are very much part of Hastings.
