Sussex World reports Mountside’s Fun Monday

Blue Monday is often framed as the gloomiest day of the year, and in the age of doom-scrolling, it can feel like we’re expected to lean into the negativity.

At Mountside Care Home in Hastings, we decided to do the opposite.

Instead of acknowledging the “doom”, we chose joy the kind you can’t find in a headline or a comment thread, but can find in a room full of people laughing together, cheering each other on, and turning an ordinary afternoon into something genuinely memorable.

That spirit of fun is exactly what Sussex World captured when they featured our Blue Monday celebrations sharing how we transformed the day into “a riot of laughter,” complete with doughnut daredevils and our brilliantly silly human fruit machine, where the prizes were (thankfully!) delicious pieces of fresh fruit.

There’s something powerful about deciding that today will be light, even when the world tries to tell you it should be heavy.

Our Blue Monday celebrations were designed for one reason: to lift spirits and bring people together through playful games, shared laughter, and that unmistakable feel-good energy that comes from community. We’re so happy to see that Sussex World agrees with us.
