"The joy that these animals bring to our residents is immeasurable," said Connie, the activities coordinator at Fairways. "Pet Day is not just about having fun; it's a therapeutic experience that enhances the well-being of everyone here. It's truly heartwarming to see the joy from interacting with these animals.”

Pet therapy, a regular feature at the home, has been shown to significantly uplift the spirits of residents, reducing stress and increasing social interaction. "Watching our residents light up as they interact with the animals is always a highlight of my job," shared Connie.

The care home staff went above and beyond to ensure the day was filled with fun, education, and, of course, plenty of carrots. The highlight of the celebration was the introduction of Katie the Carrot, a cheerful character who captivated the residents with her bright orange costume and infectious enthusiasm.”

The day also appealed to the residents’ taste buds. The culinary team at The Old Rectory Care Home prepared carrot-themed delicacies, including a warming carrot soup and a delectable carrot cake. The residents relished these dishes, with many complimenting the creativity and effort put into making the meal not only delicious but also in keeping with the theme of the day.
